Charles Wysocki History
The experiences of Charle's life has enriched his art and made it the popular expression of America and the simple life for all ages.
Charles Wysocki was born in 1928 in Detroit Michigan, and began in his youth with a desire to be an artist. After serving in the Korean War as well as in West Germany during the 1950's, Charles attended the Art Center in Los Angeles and majored in design and advertising illustration.
Wysocki later formed the "Group West" advertising agency and found great success doing freelance commercial artwork. Meeting his wife Elizabeth brought on Charle's love for the simplicity of country life and wholesome family values. From that day, that captivation has influenced his primitive style that the nation has come to love.
For most of the 1960's he made a living selling original paintings, greeting cards, and posters. In 1972, Charles published his first Americana Calendar, which has been in production now for over 30 years.
Charles Wysocki won many awards for his work including the prestiguous medal of honor from the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the society's highest national honor. Charles Wysocki passed away at the age of 73 on July 29th, 2002.
